You just made 3 ordering decisions with a one-month lead time and various demand patterns. That's the main mechanic. What you haven't had yet are all the events in the other 9 months — and that's where the team building and the learning happen.

What the other 9 months add

Events that change the plan

A new product introduction. Demand jumps on one product line and dies on another. The plan that was right in month 4 is wrong in month 6, and you find out afterwards.

3 people, 3 views, 3 agendas

In a real session you don't decide alone. A salesperson, a planner and a finance person play together but have different goals. Just like in real life, and that's where the value is.

5 to 40 teams

Same market, same 12 months, one scoreboard. Nothing builds a team like a bit of competition.

The half hour at the end

Every team gets its own numbers: profit, service level, days of inventory, working capital. Then we put them side by side and work out why the winner won. That's the part people remember.

We have no idea how you did

The demo doesn't track anything and never asked who you are. So we can't tell you how you performed.

A full-year scoreboard can. 175 teams have played the full 12 months; the best of them reached 90.44% of a perfect-foresight result. Nobody has ever hit 100%, and nobody will… probably.
